Wasgamuwa
A quiet dry-zone refuge shaped by rivers and forest
Wasgamuwa National Park lies at the meeting point of Sri Lanka’s dry and intermediate zones, bordered by the Mahaweli and Amban rivers. This river system shapes animal movement and vegetation patterns, creating a relatively undisturbed habitat compared to more heavily visited parks. The park covers over 39,000 hectares and is known for its wide floodplains, dry forest, and seasonal grasslands.
Safari Camping
Experience in Wasgamuwa
Safari experiences here are typically calmer and less congested, with fewer vehicles and longer observation windows. The absence of heavy tourism infrastructure allows wildlife to move more naturally, especially along riverbanks and open grass areas.
